Client: On the go Pure Appetite (OPA Foods)
Category: Branding • Packaging • Visual Identity
OPA Foods is a growing snack brand offering a wide range of healthy and flavored snack products, including makhana, seeds, dry fruits, and chips & munchies. The objective of this project was to develop a cohesive and scalable packaging system that could support multiple product categories while maintaining strong shelf presence and brand consistency.
The Brief / Challenge
The client initially approached me for product packaging samples as they were exploring designers for their upcoming product range. As first-time brand owners, they were unsure about design direction and market positioning. The key challenge was to bridge the gap between their expectations and what would truly help the brand stand out in a competitive snack market — beyond just creating visually appealing packs.
The packaging needed to be:
Attractive and premium
Budget-friendly for production
Flexible across multiple SKUs and categories
Easy to expand for future product lines
My Role
I handled the complete packaging design process; from concept development and visual direction to final artwork and print-ready files. This included creating a unified visual system that could scale across dozens of products while maintaining brand identity.
Design Process
The project began with understanding the brand’s vision, target audience, and market competition. This was followed by research and concept exploration to identify visual elements that would resonate with customers.
A key part of the process was implementing simple yet effective principles of design and color theory. Each flavor and variant was assigned a dominant color to create instant visual recognition — for example, red for tomato, ochre yellow for cheese, and black-and-white for salt & pepper.
Multiple iterations were developed in close collaboration with the client, ensuring clarity, consistency, and practicality for print production.
Scope of Work
Over time, the project expanded significantly:
6 variants of Makhana
5 variants of Seeds
9 variants of Dry Fruits
4 variants of Chips & Munchies
Multiple SKUs across different sizes
What started as sample designs evolved into a complete packaging system for the brand’s entire product portfolio.
Final Output
The final designs featured:
Clear product differentiation
Strong color coding
Clean typography
Shelf-friendly layouts
Consistent branding across categories
The packaging was optimized for both retail shelves and digital platforms, ensuring strong visual impact in all contexts.
Retail Presence
Market Response
Tools Used
Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and print production workflows.
Outcome & Impact
The successful execution of the initial packaging designs led to long-term collaboration and repeat work. The brand expanded from three initial makhana variants to multiple product categories, including seeds, dry fruits, and chips & munchies.
The scalable design system allowed OPA Foods to launch new products efficiently while maintaining strong brand recognition and visual consistency.
